In General
These rules apply when you are writing a synopsis for a series related to another series of the same medium. The synopsis for the parent series should be written normally. For an anime with a manga adaptation, or vice-versa, the synopsis for the adaptation should also be written normally.
Focus on the entry in question. If necessary, you may re-introduce key characters, places, or terms from the parent series; however, keep any such recap brief.
Examples
Re-introduction of key character:
Meicoomon, the digital monster who had recently joined their group alongside her human partner, Meiko Mochizuki. (Digimon Adventure tri. 3: Kokuhaku)
Re-introduction of place:
Their world is in danger of total destruction—and the Digital World, the home of the Digimon, is too. (Digimon Adventure tri. 3: Kokuhaku)
Recap of what magical girls are:
Magical girls must use the power they have gained in exchange for having one wish granted to protect humans from these wraiths. (Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica: Majuu-hen)
As much as possible, try not to spoil any related series. Although there are situations where spoilers may be unavoidable, please limit them to the bare minimum facts that are necessary to convey the main points of your current synopsis.
Examples
The Chosen Children are in shock after the betrayal of Meicoomon. (Digimon Adventure tri. 3: Kokuhaku)
Meicoomon's betrayal is a crucial event in the main plot of this series.
The spirited Boruto Uzumaki, son of Seventh Hokage Naruto, is a skilled ninja. (Boruto: Naruto the Movie)
Shuurei Kou and her friend Eigetsu To, a boy prodigy of humble origins, have been appointed co-governors of the Sa province. (Saiunkoku Monogatari 2nd Season)
Naruto becoming Hokage or Shuurei becoming a governmental official are key elements in the context of the current synopses.
