Correct: [i]Hibike! Euphonium[/i]
Incorrect: Hibike! Euphonium
Italicize the titles of all anime, manga, etc., even those that are not the topic of the synopsis. However, only do so when directly referencing the title, not when it is used generally.
Correct: [i]Lucky☆Star[/i] includes many references to [i]Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu[/i].
Incorrect: Lucky☆Star includes many references to Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu.
A massive online role-playing game called [i]Sword Art Online[/i]
Italicize the titles of literary and media works (e.g. books, movies, dramas, stage plays, games, etc.) which exist in real life, including those that have no relation to anime or manga directly.
Incorrect: Takao Kasuga bears a love for books—in particular, Charles Baudelaire's Les Fleurs du Mal.
Do not italicize the titles of collections (e.g. newspapers, magazines, etc.) or artwork. Note that music albums follow a separate rule below.
Correct: Asahi Shimbun put out an article about the history of the Mona Lisa.
Incorrect: [i]Asahi Shimbun[/i] put out an article about the history of the [i]Mona Lisa[/i].
Place quotation marks around the titles of both individual songs and albums. Do not use quotation marks for any other titles.
Correct: Suzuko Mimori's album "tone." includes the song "Kakumei no Masquerade."
Incorrect: Suzuko Mimori's album [i]tone.[/i] includes the song Kakumei no Masquerade.
In many other style guides, titles of articles, episodes, chapters, and other short works are placed within quotation marks. This is not the case for MAL Rewrite. Such titles should be rendered in plain text.
Do not italicize the titles of in-universe literary and media works. Similarly, do not place quotation marks around the titles of fictional songs and albums.
In [i]K-On![/i], Ho-kago Tea Time performs the song Fuwa Fuwa Time.
Incorrect: A new incident occurs in a game called [i]Gun Gale Online[/i].
In [i]K-On![/i], Ho-kago Tea Time performs the song "Fuwa Fuwa Time."
Do not italicize the names of trains, ships, aircraft, spacecraft, and other large, moving vessels.
