Colon, semicolon, and em dash

Do not capitalize the word following a colon, semicolon, or em dash.

Examples

  • Luffy recruited other pirates to fulfill specific roles: a swordsman, a navigator, and a cook.

  • Naruto knew it would be difficult to change Sasuke's mind; his friend was lost to anger.

  • Vegeta—despite previously admitting he would never win—continued to challenge Goku to fights.
